Much Ado About Pizza is owned and operated by Kira and Mark Zabrowski, a husband-and-wife team who built their Pleasanton pizzeria around craftsmanship, creativity, and community. Before opening Much Ado About Pizza in 2022, Kira Zabrowski spent 25 years as a Theatre and English teacher. Her lifelong love of storytelling and the performing arts inspired the pizzeria’s Shakespearean theme—where language, imagination, and food come together. A passionate baker, Kira developed Much Ado’s signature slow-fermented sourdough crust, focusing on flavor, balance, and digestibility. A former community theatre actor and proud mother of three, she competes nationally and brings continual learning and creativity back to the shop.

Mark Zabrowski leads the day-to-day operations with steady, hands-on dedication. With a background in sales management and years as a Business and Economics high school teacher, Mark manages the business side of Much Ado—overseeing finances, food costs, and operations—while also expediting the kitchen with calm precision and grace. Known for his tireless work ethic, Mark sets the tone for teamwork, consistency, and excellence. He is a lifelong football fan and a hands-on leader who believes great pizza starts with strong systems and people.

Much Ado About Pizza is proudly family-run.  Their children, Mark Jr. and Zoe, work in the shop, contributing to daily operations and learning the value of teamwork and hospitality. Their son, Mark Zabrowski, Jr., designed the Much Ado About Pizza logo, giving the brand its distinctive identity. Their daughter, Zoe Zabrowski, represents the next generation of pizza makers and was recently named Young Pizza Maker of the Year at age 15, earning national recognition.

Community involvement is central to the Much Ado mission. Through initiatives like Shakespeare Shares, the pizzeria regularly donates pizzas and funds to organizations including Goodness Village, Open Heart Kitchen, and CityServe of the Tri-Valley, along with supporting local schools, teachers, theatre programs, and community events. Kira and Mark are proud members of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and active participants in community outreach throughout the Tri-Valley. Kira and Mark are also active members of the U.S. Pizza Team, regularly competing, traveling, and learning alongside top pizza professionals nationwide. Their dedication to the craft has earned Much Ado About Pizza repeated recognition, including Yelp's Top 100 U.S. Restaurants list (2024 & 2025) and SF Gate's Best of the Bay top 5 pizzeria's (2025), along with consistent success on the regional and national competition stage.*Check our News/Press Release page to read more.

At its heart, Much Ado About Pizza reflects the Zabrowski family’s values: hard work, creativity, generosity, and a belief that great pizza can bring people together—one thoughtfully made pie at a time.
